How to POWER UP wi-fi signal power

Losing patience when your WIFIUTM connection connected and lost?
And this situation got repeated and repeated again until you give up trying and losing trust to WIFIUTM?

When the signal is weak, and at the same time your laptop doesn't have the required power to capture the wi-fi signal, the above incidents happened.

Here is a way to make this problem better.

First you will need:

  •  a large shiny bowl or wire bowl
  • a Wi-Fi antenna adapter with USB connection

  1. combine the two ingredients as shown as the image below
  2.  The adapter is connected to your computer.
  3. The position of antenna facing an area with signal.

An antenna like this can increase the signal power by 45%. But this is a short-term solution.
If you want something more durable, talk to CICT so that they can more improvements on WIFIUTM

WAN

·       Wide Area Network
·       Is a computer network that covers a broad area (i.e., any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries).
·       Contrast with personal area network (PANs), local area network (LANs), campus area network (CANs), or metropolitan area network (MANs) which are usually limited to a room, building, campus or specific metropolitan area (e.g., a city) respectively.
Design options
o  Used to connect LANs and other types of networks together, so that users and computers in one location can communicate with users and computers in other locations.
o  Many WANs are built for one particular organization and are private.
o  Built by, Internet Service Providers, provide connections from an organization's LAN to the Internet.
o  Built using leased lines.
o  At each end of the leased line, a router connects to the LAN on one side and a hub within the WAN on the other.
o  Leased lines can be very expensive.
o  Can also built using less costly circuit switching or packet switching methods.
o  Network protocol including TCP/IP deliver transport and addressing functions.
o  Protocol including Packet over SONET/SDH, MPLS, ATM and Frame relay are often used by service providers to deliver the links that are used in WANs.
o  X.25 was an important early WAN protocol, and is often considered to be the "grandfather" of Frame Relay as many of the underlying protocols and functions of  X.25 are still in use today (with upgrades) by Frame Relay.
o  Academic research into wide area networks can be broken down into three areas: Mathematical models, network emulation and network simulation.
o  Performance improvements are sometimes delivered via WAFS or WAN optimization.
Connection technology options
·       Several ways to connect NonStop S-series servers to WANs, including via the ServerNet Wide Area Network (SWAN) or SWAN 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 concentrators, which provides WAN client connectivity to servers that have Ethernet ports and appropriate communications software.
·       You can also use the Asynchronous Wide Area Network (AWAN) access server, which offers economical asynchronous-only WAN access.
·       Several options are available for WAN connectivity:
Option:
Description
Advantages
Disadvantages
Bandwidth range
Sample protocols used
Point-to-Point connection between two computers or Local Area Networks (LANs)
Most secure
Expensive
A dedicated circuit path is created between end points. Best example is dialup connections
Less Expensive
Call Setup
28 - 144 kbit/s
Devices transport packets via a shared single point-to-point or point-to-multipoint link across a carrier internetwork. Variable length packets are transmitted over Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVC) or Switched Virtual Circuits (SVC)
Shared media across link
Similar to packet switching, but uses fixed length cells instead of variable length packets. Data is divided into fixed-length cells and then transported across virtual circuits
Best for simultaneous use of voice and data
Overhead can be considerable

·       Transmission rates usually range from 1200 bit/s to 24 Mbit/s, although some connections such as ATM and Leased lines can reach speeds greater than 156 Mbit/s.
·       Typical communication links used in WANs are telephone lines, microwave links & satellite channels.
·       Recently with the proliferation of low cost of Internet connectivity many companies and organizations have turned to VPN to interconnect their networks, creating a WAN in that way. Companies such as Cisco, New Edge Networks and Check Point offer solutions to create VPN networks.
WAN Technology
o  A WAN is a data communications network that covers a relatively broad geographic area and that often uses transmission facilities provided by common carriers, such as telephone companies.
o  WAN technologies generally function at the lower three layers of the OSI reference model: the physical layer, the data link layer, and the network layer.
o  The following articles provide information about the various protocols and technologies used in WAN environments:
§  Frame Relay

networking security

network security

In network zone, the area of network security consist of the provision and policies accepted by the network administrator to prevent and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification or denial of the computer network and network-accessible resource. The network security id to prevent the hacker for hacking the computer data and information. Information security is to protect the data resources from malware attack or by simple mistaken which done by people within organization by the use of data loss prevention or called DPL technique.
While security management for network is different for different situation. For examples, usually a small home or office only need a basic security software and hardware but the large business firm would need a high maintenance and advance software and hardware to prevent malicious attacks hacking and spamming. Data loss occurs unless the protection can cope with menacing viruses, as you probably know that viruses are a common threat in the worldwide web, generating major network security issues.

Networking, especially intercommunication and data access via Internet, are the stepping stone of any business, either we deal with B2B or B2C communication, yet, managers should become more aware of the risk that might affect the well-working of their business. Thus, some of these risks can be easily annihilated, provided that they make use of all means to fight network securities issues. Although, we are pretty convinced that we have the weapon against all network security issues, probably, someone else is a step further, already hacking the network.

Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network (DMVPN)

Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network (DMVPN)

To enhance the effective of Virtual Private Network (VPN), we can use Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network (DMVPN) to do so. Thus DMVPN is for enhancement of the VPN configuration process of Cisco IOS-based routers.

So do you know what Virtual Private Network is?

A virtual private network (VPN) is a computer network that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure such as the Internet to provide remote offices or individual users with secure access to their organization's network. It aims to avoid an expensive system of owned or leased lines that can be used by only one organization.

It encapsulates data transfers using a secure cryptographic method between two or more networked devices which are not on the same private network so as to keep the transferred data private from other devices on one or more intervening local or wide area networks. There are many different classifications, implementations, and uses for VPNs.

Advantages of VPN

An ideal VPN can be significantly advantageous to an organization. It can,
  • broaden geographic connectivity
  • implement advance security measure
  • lessen operational costs
  • lessen travel time and transportation expenses for distant members
  • enhance productivity
  • shorten network topology
  • offer global networking prospects
  • offer compatibility with broadband networking
  • revert with quicker Return On Investment (ROI)

DMVPN prevents the need for pre-configured (static) IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) peers in crypto-map configurations feature of Cisco IOS allows greater scalability over previous IPsec configurations.

An IPsec tunnel between two Cisco routers may be created on an as needed basis. Tunnels may be created between a spoke router and a hub router (VPN headend), or between spokes. This greatly alleviates the need for the hub to route data between spoke networks, as was common in a non-fully meshed frame relay topology.

DMVPN supports distributed applications including: data, voice, and video, with QoS. All of this can be done in a secure IPSec VPN tunnel over an Internet connection.
The only change is the IP address of the GRE Tunnel.  The spoke uses dynamic discovery of IPSec tunnel end-points, (other spokes). No IPSec static configuration for each spoke.
Beside that DMVPN supports multipoint GRE tunneling you can run VoIP, Video, and Multicast services across your secure DMVPN link.

Here is a video of setting up a multipoint tunnel. A very scalable model of VPN tunneling that sets up a dynamic tunnel between spokes.

As the growth popularity of the technology information, many innovations have to been done to make sure you won’t be kicking out from the society. Thus the businesses now are tending to expand their networks to many areas. Before the VPN, they are established some less advanced networks. But after the VPN being created, most businesses switch to VPN from other because the VPN is more convenient and secure. They can transfer much information with higher secure standard. Beside that with VPN, those virtual team which didn’t meet but still works as a team can communicate better which each member.

Thus DMVPN which is simple, secure and low cost that enhance VPN act as an important role. It’s a cost effective and secure communication for branch offices. It reduces the cost and enables direct contact such as voice between branch to branch in a business.
DMVPN also reduces deployment complexity by offers a zero touch configuration, dramatically reducing the deployment complexity in VPN.
On the other hand, DMVPN do also improve the resiliency of a business. It does prevent disruptions of business critical applications and services by incorporating routing with standards based IPsec technology.
